US rapper Pitbull has cancelled his Climate Change concert in Singapore that was scheduled to take place on May 27. He was slated to perform at the Suntec Convention Centre. However, due to schedule concert, the rapper backed out from the event.
A press release from the organiser expressed their deep regret over the issue. The statement from concert promoter Live Nation Lushington read: "It is with great regret that Pitbull will not be able to perform the Climate Change Tour in Asia due to scheduling conflicts. The artist deeply apologises to his supportive fans and hopes to come to Asia in the future."
They further added that the refund for the tickets will be available from May 12 and for those who purchased it via online will get an automated rebate.
The Grammy-winning rapper, also known as Mr. Worldwide, was expected to return to Singapore after almost four years. Several big name guests, including Robin Thicke, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry and Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker, as well as Enrique Iglesias, Jennifer Lopez, Leona Lewis and Flo Rida were expected to grace the event.
Born as Armando Christian Pérez, he recorded his first mainstream track for Lil Jon's 2002 album Kings of Crunk. In 2004, Pitbull released his debut album M.I.A.M.I. under TVT Records that was followed by El Mariel, in 2006 and The Boatlift, in 2007. His hit single "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)" from the album Rebelution (2009) peaked at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100.
Pitbull's 2011 album Planet Pit, featured the single "Give Me Everything", which was his first US number-one single. Later in 2013, his track "Timber" from Meltdown EP topped the charts in twenty nations, including the US and UK. In addition, he collaborated with Jennifer Lopez and Claudia Leitte for "We Are One (Ole Ola)" that was chosen as the official theme of the 2014 FIFA World Cup."
Going by the response to his earlier singles like Bad Man, Options, and Greenlight, Climate Change is likely to be a massive success in the coming days.
