Singer turned actress Sung Yu-ri married her pro-golfer boyfriend of four years in a humble religious wedding ceremony on May 15, it was reported. The couple had gone public with their relationship in 2014. The actress also wrote a personal letter to her fans regarding her marriage.
Websites Soompi notes that on May 16, a source from Yu-ri's agency SL Entertainment revealed, "Sung Yuri tied the knot with pro golfer Ahn Sung Hyun on May 15. After sincerely dating for four years, the two have promised to be lifelong partners with their trust as a foundation for marriage."
The source also added, "The couple wanted to hold a calm and quiet wedding where they could focus on each other, and so in accordance with their wishes, we ask for your understanding about not releasing the news of their marriage in advance."
As noted by Allkpop, SL Entertainment also added that the couple held the marriage ceremony in the form of a family religious service on May 15. It was also revealed that Yu-ri and Ahn Sung-hyun chose to donate the funds for their marriage ceremony. Both husband and wife are 36 years old.
As per The Korea Times, the couple had a closed-door ceremony at an unidentified location, with only their family members in attendance. As noted by Yonhap News, the actress uploaded a hand-written letter to her internet fan cafe on May 16, which read, "I'm very sorry for not announcing my marriage out of a mind to spend the day in a quiet and holy manner."
She continued, "I am now in another starting point of my life with a companion. We will live happily and beautifully with respect and consideration for each other... As an actor, I'll make more efforts to give you joy and happiness with good work in the future. I thank you, am sorry and love you."
Sung Yu-ri had debuted in 1998 as a member of the K-pop group Fin.K.L, which is now defunct. She made her acting debut with the television drama 'Bad Girls' in 2002. She recently appeared on the MBC drama 'Monster,' in 2016. Her husband Ahn Sung-hyun has been a professional golfer since 2005 and is currently a coach for South Korea's national male golf team.
