Samsung Galaxy S8
The Galaxy S8 sports a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED HD display that is made of Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It has an aspect ratio of 18:5.9, making it a slimmer and taller than the usual smartphone in general. The fingerprint scanner is poised at the back panel, right below the dual camera. It has a 12MP main camera and an 8MP front camera.
As for the internal components, the Galaxy S8 carries a Snapdragon 835 processor, a 4GB of RAM, and a 64GB of internal storage. It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat.
The phone's takeaway, however, is the iris scanner which has been controversial because the device can launch even with the use of a photo or an eye with a contact lens.
Essential PH-1
The PH-1 has a 5.71-inch IPS LCD display with 2,560 x 1,312-pixel resolution. It has a 13MP main camera and an 8MP front shooter; not to mention the 360-degree camera that comes along with it for a fee. It runs on a Snapdragon 835 processor, a 4GB of RAM, and a 64GB of base internal storage. The PH-1 starts at US$699. However, the phone does not have a microSD slot.
In terms of design, Essential first flagship smartphone competes well with Samsung's. The Galaxy S8's curved edge-to-edge display is just stunning, while the PH-1's ground-breaking bezel-less display is jaw-dropping. When it comes to durability, one can rely on Essential's phone. Being crafted in a combination of titanium and ceramic material, the PH-1 is bound to survive almost of types of durability tests.
