In the wake of gaming devices being announced in the past few weeks, HP is jumping on board with its new external graphics processing unit (GPU) enclosure that gamers will love. And it is just one of the accessories that it tries to sell on top of other gaming stuff.
The HP Accelerator houses a power supply, single graphics and hard drive. It has a tonne of ports for four USB 3.0 ports, USB Type-C, external hard drive and Thunderbolt 3. The machine has been a good alternative for expensive enclosures such as Razer's Core. Accelerator drops at US$299.99 starting August 2017.
However, HP stresses out that Accelerator may not be for everyone in terms of compatibility to laptops. HP's head of consumer PC division says that there are so many differences in how Thunderbolt is used for HP to declare the device's suitability to other PCs in the market. What is certain, HP users are guaranteed that they can take advantage of the technology. Apart from gaming, Accelerator is also best used to connect a laptop and do video editing.
Two variants displays in different sizes will also be out. The 27-inch version has QHD display, two USB 3.0 ports and Nvidia's G-Sync. This will start to be shipped this week. The 25-inch version has a full HD display, two USB 3.0 ports and AMD's FreeSync. This will be available by the end of June. HP emphasises that these powerful machines can deliver as fast as 1 millisecond at best.
HP's new line of products also includes a mechanical keyboard and a gaming mouse. The keyboard costs US$59.99 while the mouse sells for US$129.99. They are now available in stores.
