iOS 11 will start to be rolled out this fall on iPhone and iPad devices. Apple brings in a couple of new features, major changes, and minor tweaks that users should be looking forward to. From the camera to Siri, here are seven exciting features to hit iPhone and iPad soon.
Customisable Dock
A new customisable Dock on iPad allows users to pin frequently used apps and documents. This quick access design is intended to make multitasking even more productive.
Redesigned app switcher
The app switcher is redesigned to lobby an easier and more convenient move between apps in use. On top of the Split View, this can now be used for Slide Over.
New Files app
The File app is updated to accommodate local, iCloud Drive, Dropbox, etc. files accordingly. With Drag and Drop, moving documents, clips, photos, etc. is now easier.
Male and female Siri
Siri has new male and female voices which are more expressive with the adjustments made in intonation, tempo, pitch, and other vocal factors. The iPhone and iPad users' personal assistant can translate some English words and phrases into Spanish, German, French, Italian, and Mandarin.
New camera, photo features
Photos in Portrait Mode can be taken with the help of True Tone flash, high-dynamic range, and optical image stabilisation for a more professional result. Live Photos bring the Loop and Bounce effects. Long Exposure is now supported.
Clips in memory storage can be played in either landscape or portrait mode. Photo album also creates memories for one taken on birthdays and other occasions. With High Efficiency Image File format, the file size of photos taken with iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus is reduced.
Apple Pay with family, friends
Apple Pay can now be used to send and receive payments from family and friends. Messages or Siri can do this, just make sure the credit and debit cards have been registered in Wallet.
Do Not Disturb While Driving
iOS 11 is optimised to detect iPhone users when they are driving. With Do Not Disturb While Driving, it automatically shuts off distractive notifications by dimming the phone screen. With some auto-messages set, the phone can reply to the user whenever necessary.
