Jeff Goldblum's return to the 'Jurassic Park' franchise in the upcoming fifth instalment of the series was undoubtedly a welcome addition to the new cast, excluding B.D. Wong of course. It seems now, the look of his character Ian Malcolm in the 'Jurassic World' sequel, has been revealed as well.
The imdb.com page for 'Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom' is now showing a new photo of Jeff Goldblum in a fully white suit with a green and black striped tie and deep maroon colour shoes. The caption says, "Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018)." Also, the photo is credited to Universal, which is the production house behind all the 'Jurassic Park' movies.
It isn't certain whether this is an actual photo of Jeff Goldblum's appearance as Dr. Ian Malcolm in 'Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom' because IMDB can be edited by anyone who is registered with the website, apparently. The photo might not be from 'Fallen Kingdom.' The image looks fairly recent though.
The reason why the photo could be the real thing however, is the choice of the costume. In the novel 'Jurassic Park' by Michael Crichton, Ellie Sattler was asking Malcolm why he chose to wear all black. To which he had replied that he wears "only two colors, black and gray." Malcolm then added, "I find it liberating. I believe my life has value, and I don't want to waste it thinking about clothing."
Sure, the character had no fondness for white in the novel, but the cinematic medium is different. If the photo is indeed of Jeff Goldblum in character as Ian Malcolm in 'Fallen Kingdom,' he still is wearing an unicolour dress for the most part. He wore a fully black dress in 'Jurassic Park' and a dark gray dress in 'The Lost World: Jurassic Park.' The tie in the new dress might look a bit out of place with the white suit though.
Actually, Goldblum looks very much the "rock star" that the late Richard Attenborough's John Hammond said he behaved like, in Spielberg's 1993 film. But above all, he looks every bit the Jeff Goldblum we all know and love. Goldblum can always be expected to do something different, funny, if not outright shocking, when it comes to roles or his passions; be that music or having his own food truck.
Hopefully, a confirmation or denial will come from the production team of 'Fallen Kingdom' or the actor himself. The movie, meanwhile, has wrapped filming in Hawaii and will move onto the post-production phase, with a release date set for June 22, 2018.
