Multi-national fast-food chain KFC is the newest name in the smartphone competition. Earlier today, KFC announced that it is manufacturing a limited edition smartphone that will soon be released in China.
KFC, in partnership with Shenzhen, China-based original equipment manufacturer Huawei, is invading the hardware market with the KFC edition of Huawei Enjoy 7 Plus. Many analysts deemed the model a "killer" one with its mid-range specifications that are not absolutely bad for its price tag.
The Huawei Enjoy 7 Plus KFC edition sports a 5.5-inch display. Its internal prowess includes 3 gigabytes of RAM and 32 gigabytes of memory space which is expandable up to 128 gigabytes through a microSD card.
The phone comes with KFC-branded apps such as its native music which allows the user to create and share playlists at a KFC branch. It runs on Snapdragon 425 processor which may be quite a turn-off for those who are hoping for overall excellent performance. The battery is pretty decent at 3,020mAh. Not to mention, it has a fingerprint scanner that every smartphone cannot find in any other mid-range phones. Best of all, the phone costs around US$160 only.
The Huawei Enjoy 7 Plus KFC edition comes in a red colour variant with the iconic Colonel Sanders logo printed on the back panel of the handset. However, 5,000 KFC edition units will only be manufactured which will be exclusively released in China. But it remains uncertain if KFC and Huawei will be adding more on the production units once the variant is a smash hit.
On the Chinese social media platform, Weibo, KFC said the move in partnership with Huawei is in commemoration of the American fast-food chain's 30-year anniversary since it opened its first branch in China.
