Hallyu star Lee Min Ho has been announced as the new brand ambassador for Anchor Beer Cambodia. The company's creative agency The Alchemy Partnership revealed the news along with the ad video on their Facebook page.
The official statement from the company stated that they chose Lee due to his influence among the young audience. They also added that Lee's personality matches their brand value perfectly which is all about fun, young, and energetic.
Lee is currently serving his mandatory two-year military enlistment. The actor is currently serving as a public service worker in southern Seoul. Due to his health injuries, which he sustained during two car accidents in 2006 ad 2011, the actor was asked to serve at a social welfare centre instead of mandatory military service.
The ad featuring Lee was released on Facebook last week and has garnered over 62,000 views, 1,900 reactions and 743 shares. A report on Marketing Interactive described, "It features Lee wandering through a cruise ship where all people and objectives are still. However, when Lee opens a bottle of Anchor Beer, the cruise ship comes to life as partying ensues."
"Lee Min-Ho is the perfect match with the personality of the Anchor brand. Then, of course, it's to work with the right agency," Sandrine De Cara, marketing manager of Cambodia Breweries Limited said. "The K-Wave obviously works very well for Anchor. So after Rain, we looked for the biggest Korean star, and they don't get any bigger than Lee Min-Ho," Alvin Wong, Alchemy CEO, added.
