A 16m-long obstacle was created at Orchard Road on Thursday morning as the road was filled with smashed eggs. Several photos that were circulated online showed that hundreds of eggs were splattered across the road in front of Mandarin Gallery after apparently falling off a vehicle.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that it was informed about the incident at about 10.30 am. The "spillage" was cleaned up by the authorities using a water jet.

The Land Transport Authority also tweeted the incident at around the same time and alerted the motorists to an "obstacle on Orchard Road (towards Bras Basah Road) after Scotts Road". SCDF added that there were no reports of injuries.
