A 22-year-old female, whose identity was withheld by government authorities, was brought to the hospital on weekend after she was stabbed by her neighbour after he failed to rape her.
The Police identified the suspect as, Wendell Aiacaden, who reportedly went inside the victim's room and attempted to rape her. Luckily, she manage d to free herself and ran out of the house. However, she stumbled and fell on the ground and that is when Aiacaden stabbed her several times on her arms and legs.
It was also revealed that the victim usually locks her room at night but on the eve of the incident she forgot to lock her door and seizing this opportunity, Aiacaden barged into her room.
Police were alerted about the incident following which they immediately rushed to the scene and cornered Aliacaden and arrested him. The suspect, who said he was drunk at that time, admitted that he was planning to rape the victim but later he said he could no longer remember what he did.
The female victim said she would charge Aliacaden with rape and causing grievous injury once she is discharged from the hospital.
Authorities have ordered aprobe into the matter and are currently investigating if Aliacaden took illegal drugs because rape cases in Manila are often committed by drug addicts.
