Dhanush's Velaiilla Pattadhari 2, known also as VIP 2, finally released on Aug 11 and has received a good response at the box office. Although, the film garnered mixed reviews from its audience, but it seems that the planned pre-release promotions has saved the movie.
The Indian Tamil-Telugu comedy-drama witnessed a good occupancy rates on its first day of release. According to trade reports, VIP 2 has already earned over Rs 4.5 crore on its opening day, beating the record of Dhanush's previous film Kodi that had collected over Rs 3.5 crore on the first day.

VIP 2 is the second directorial venture of Soundarya Rajinikanth, the daughter of superstar Rajinikanth. The film, starring Dhanush and Bollywood actress Kajol, is a to the 2014 Tamil-language film Velaiilla Pattadhari. Apart from the two key actors, VIP2 also stars Amala Paul, Vivek, Saranya Ponvannan and Samuthirakani, who were there in the first installment as well.
The first part of VIP 2 dealt with Raghuvaran (Dhanush) overcoming all the hurdles to find his dream job and the obstacles that he faced after started working was the highlight of the flick. However, this second part is all about his life after marriage.
The trade experts believe that the tremendous success of the first part has actually created the curiosity among its viewers and that has eventually resulted into a good business for the second part of the movie.
