Samsung has officially begun testing the Galaxy A8, Galaxy A9 Pro and Galaxy Tab E models for Android 7.0 Nougat.
Variants under testing include are the Galaxy A8 with model number SM-A800, Galaxy A9 Pro with model number SM-A910X, Galaxy Tab E 8.0 with model number SM-T37X and Galaxy Tab E 9.7 with model number SM-T560. All devices have been spotted on the Wi-Fi Alliance's web portal for Android 7.0 Nougat.
It has been a while that the devices get to receive a major software upgrade since Marshmallow. The Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A9 Pro were first released in 2016 and the Galaxy Tab E in 2015.
However, the exact Android 7.0 Nougat release date for these devices have remained unknown. Based on the usual timeframe, an update will be officially rolled out 2-12 weeks after testing.
On August 11, the Galaxy A3 (2017), Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017) have started to receive the official Android 7.0 Nougat. The update came six months only after their debut.
The following day, it was reported here on IBTimes Singapore that the Galaxy C5, Galaxy C7 and Galaxy C9 Pro have also been subjected to Android 7.0 Nougat testing. These devices were first released earlier this year.
Android 7.0 Nougat offers tonnes of new tweaks and features, including improved notifications, better application permissions, new emoji and enhanced battery saving tool on top of performance optimisations and bug fixes.
