K-pop and scams always go hand-in-hand. The latest to add to this list is a fake BTS fan meeting scam. According to a report on Korea Times, a man, identified as Choi, has been taken into custody for tricking a retail company by promising fake BTS fans meetings. Reportedly, the victim claims that Choi has received 624 million won ($547,765) between the months of January and March from them.
The money was taken for organising fan meetings and merchandising the company's brand in China. Digging a bit deeper into the story, it was revealed that Choi, in fact, had a one-time deal with BTS' agency Big Hit Entertainment back in January. But the deal was to merchandise BTS backpack and travel carriers. However, the deal never entitled him to organise fan meetings with the band.
