Katy Perry is reportedly unhappy that Taylor Swift released her new music video at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards held at The Forum on 27 August in California. The 28-year-old singer debuted her epic new video for Look What You Made Me Do during the award show, where Orlando Bloom's former girlfriend was serving as the host.
The two have been holding grudge against each other since 2013. A source told Hollywood Life: "Katy [Perry] is pretty upset about how everything went down at the VMAs."
"She agreed to be the host and thought it was her big night, only to have it stolen by Taylor [Swift]. Taylor didn't have to premiere the video then, but she wanted to hurt Katy. In Katy's eyes it just proves once again what she always felt — Taylor is the biggest mean girl in the business," the insider added.
The Red singer and Perry were best friends for a long time before things got bad between the two. In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Swift revealed that the song Bad Blood from 1989, is about a former friend. The two apparently fought over backup dancers.
Perry took a dig at Swift during the 2015 Super Bowl half-time show, which took place on 1 February at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona. During the performance, the Rise singer's backup dancers wore high-waist polka dot bikinis, something similar to what Swift had worn while holidaying with Conor Kennedy on the shores of Hyannis Port, Massachusetts in 2012.
Previously, during an appearance on the Today show, the Roar singer told host Richard Wilkins about their relationship. She said: "Yeah, I mean I love her, I always have and we've had our differences, but I just continue to say 'God bless her' on her journey."
