Kang Ha-neul and Park Se-joon starring action, comedy movie 'Midnight Runners' is doing really well at the South Korean box office following its August 9 release. Now it has been learned that it might be getting a sequel as well, with original cast members probably returning.
As noted by website Soompi, 'Midnight Runners' director Kim Joo-hwan and star Kang ha-neul had visited Hong Kong and Singapore from August 28 through 31 to attend the respective premieres there as well as interact with fans. At one press conference, Kim Joo-hwan revealed that discussions regarding a sequel to the hit movie have happened. He also added that if a sequel is greenlit, he will look to bringing back Kang Ha-neul and Park Seo-joon in their respective roles from the first movie.
As for Kang Ha-neul, he will begin his mandatory military service this September 11. He had applied to enter as a military police officer of the Republic of Korea Capital Defense Command and was accepted. As noted by Soompi, the actor will be serving as motorcycle military police in charge of guarding important personnel as a security escort, for about two years.
In the said press conference, Kang Ha-neul was asked about his relationship status, to which he replied, "I am unfortunately currently single. If a woman would wait 2 years after my enlistment or visit me in the military, it would be really nice, but there is no one to wait for me." He jokingly added, "But director Kim Joo-hwan will wait for me."
As to his ideal type of woman, Kang Ha-neul said, "I like professional women. I like someone that has a specialised job and works her hardest in what she does. I hope she can be someone that I can converse well with and communicate freely."
Park Se-joon, who hadn't been able to accompany Kang Ha-neul and Kim Joo-hwan, had recently talked about his first interaction with director Kim Joo-hwan. "The first time that Kang Ha-neul and I met the director, we played 'Overwatch' together," he revealed.
Seo-joon added, "Instead of doing a run-of-the-mill script reading, we needed to become close to one another first. If you see the film, the chemistry between Kang Ha-neul and me is important, but it's also important to have good chemistry between the actors and director. Now that I think about it, it's funny. Three men sitting next to each other with headsets, meeting for the first time."
'Midnight Runners' is currently playing in cinemas.
