Super Junior's Kim Heechul has opened up about rumors that he is gay. The 34-year-old boy band member addressed the reports circulating around his sexual orientation.
During the airing of KBS 2TV's Pot Stand, Heechul met with an entertainment reporter and asked if there were any rumours relating to him. The reporter replied: "It's weird but I've never heard anything about you."
Heechul said: "It's been awhile since I've dated. Recently, I read jjirashi (chat room rumors) about me being gay. I was reading the rumors and was like 'Daebak' and was wondering who the celebrity 'A' was, but it actually turned out to be me. After reading that, I realized that 99 out of the 100 jjirashi's are fake."
"The jjirashis' on social media are exaggerated for fun. If 'A' and 'B' have a meal together, things are added onto the fact," he added.
Heechul seems to be very upset with the gay rumours. In March, while talking to Yonhap News, he said: "I'm not gay. I like women. But I realized that if I say I'm not and vehemently deny it, it's rude and hurtful to people who are actually gay. It's just a matter of preference, and it's just that everyone is different with different values. I decided I don't care even if people who have prejudices about me think that way."
