Huawei Mate 9 has recently been spotted running Android 8.0 Oreo on benchmarking website Geekbench. Almost a year running Nougat, the smartphone will soon be getting it first operating system upgrade.
Rumours are over whether Huawei Mate 9 is getting the Android 8.0 Oreo update or not as the smartphone had been spotted anew on Geekbench. Android Soul on Saturday first reported the good news.

As the benchmark test shows, the Mate 9 handset seems working well with the forthcoming Android update. The device first came out in December 2016 with Android 7.0 Nougat and Emotion UI 5.0 on board.
Aside from Mate 9, other Huawei smartphones getting Android 8.0 Oreo soon include P10, Honor 8 Pro, Honor 8, Honor 8 Lite and Honor 6X. It remains a mystery whether the Chinese smartphone manufacturer's next-generation smartphone will arrive with Oreo on board.
Android 8.0 Oreo comes packed with new features. One of its most notable and much-hyped features is the Picture-in-Picture mode. Shortly called PIP, this mode allows you to stack two or more apps on top of the others. It is designed to make multitasking more convenient than using the split-window mode. Other features arriving include the Notification Dots, Android Instant Apps and revamped notification panel, among many others.
In the meantime, Huawei had just launched the Maimang 6 phone in China late last week. Reports swirled the company will likely be introducing the new smartphone as the Mate 10 Lite on 16 October in Munich.
By the looks of its, Maimang 6 resembles what could be the successor of Mate 9 as it sports a 5.9-inch display with 1,080 x 2,160 resolution, Kirin 659 processor, 4-gigabyte RAM, 64-gigabyte memory, 3,340-milliampere battery, 16 and 2-megapixel main camera sensors and 13 and 2-megapixel front camera sensors.
However, there is still no confirmation coming from Huawei.
