Actor Kim Soo Hyun will begin his active military duty from October 23. The actor is likely to have a silent enlistment sans cameras and fans. The actor's agency KeyEast confirmed the news through a press statement.
"Kim Soo Hyun will be enlisting for his mandatory military service on October 23. As a citizen of South Korea, he will be fulfilling his obligation to serve in the military. He will be quietly enlisting without any formal events, including a press conference or fan meeting," the statement reads. Soo Hyun will begin his basic military training for five weeks at the recruitment training camp and will be stationed at the army base for 21-month military service. The actor's agency also thanked his fans for their love and support.
Kim is known for his roles in "Dream High", "Moon Embracing the Sun", "My Love from the Star", and "The Producers". It is was his "My Love from the Star", that got him international fame and even became a top star in China. The drama is a romantic fantasy story about an alien who lands on Earth in the Joseon Dynasty and, 400 years later, falls in love with a top actress in the modern era. His recent work was Korean action thriller noir "Real."
