It's another record-setting week for Korean boy band BTS on the Billboard chart.
After debuting at No. 85 on the Hot 100, BTS' lead single "DNA" rose to No. 67 on the latest chart for the week of October 14, which will be released on October 4, to become the highest charting K-pop song from a K-pop group.
According to Billboard, the song, which is included in BTS' latest album "Love Yourself: Her," has erased the record of the now defunct Wonder Girls whose viral song "Nobody" peaked at No. 76 on the Hot 100 chart in 2009.
"The track jumps with the chart's top streaming gain, as it concurrently debuts on the Streaming Songs chart at No. 38 with a 114 percent blast to 11.4 million U.S. streams in the week ending Sept. 28, according to Nielsen Music," Billboard reported.
The idol group becomes the second K-pop artist to have the highest rank on the Hot 100 after Korean rapper Psy made it to No. 2 in 2012 for his hit song "Gangnam Style."
BTS members have been in a daze since "Love Yourself: Her" has set records one after the other.
"We're surprised at the huge response when each album is released but it is beyond our expectation and overwhelming this time. Our new songs topped iTunes chart in 73 countries and made its debut at No. 4 on the US iTunes Song chart," Rap Monster earlier said.
After debuting at No. 85 on the Hot 100, BTS thanked fans for their support.
"I'm deeply moved. It's more surprising and strange since I didn't expect such a result. I thank the fans for realizing my childhood dream," said Suga.
Rap Monster said, "It is a great honor as an artist and I'm also very proud and deeply moved since it's a song in Korean. It will be one of the most memorable days in my life."
On the other hand, the music video for "DNA" has reached 78.76 million views to date since September 18.
