Woollim Entertainment announced in August that Hoya would no longer be a member of Infinite after he did not extend his contract when it expired on June 9.
The 26-year-old singer and actor then posted a letter to fans on Instagram about his departure from the group, writing, "First of all, to my INFINITE members... Sungkyu, Dongwoo, Woohyun, Sungyeol, Myungsoo (L), and Sungjong. I want to tell them I'm sorry and thank you once again through this letter."
In September, he signed up with Glorious Entertainment, which manages actor Ji Chang Wook.
In his first V Live online broadcast, Hoya updated fans about what's going on about him.
"Currently, I'm at a practice room that has been arranged by my agency. It's a practice room that is fit to use on my own. My agency is good to me. It's actually an agency that didn't have practice rooms. I didn't have any expectations because this is an agency that houses actors, but it prepared a good practice room for me. It's the biggest practice room I've ever been to. I'm dancing happily right now," he said.
Hoya announced that his solo "album is coming out soon."
"I'm going to let everyone hear what I've been working on as soon as possible. I'm working hard without even taking a break on Chuseok [Korean Thanksgiving] so that it will be released within the year," he said.
But he said he doesn't "know when it will be released. I'm constantly preparing for it, but there are some things I still have to finalize."
"Today, I'm practicing my choreography with the dancers, and tomorrow, I'm recording my album. For the past three months, I've only been in my house and studio. I haven't been going out, so no one has spotted me," he said.
He also talked about being in the musical "Hourglass" and the drama "Two Cops."
"I'm preparing hard for my drama. Unexpectedly, I became part of the production. I thought it would be right to present my music to my fans first, so I was working hard on it, but then I happened to take part in a musical," he said. "As for my drama, my part was confirmed two days before the script reading. I'm analyzing my character and practicing my lines."
