Which K-pop groups created the most buzz in October?
The Korea Institute for Corporate Reputation has released the list of 100 K-pop idol groups based on brand reputation rankings for October.
It extracted 152.54 million pieces of big data of 100 idol groups from September 7 to October 8, an increase of 13.74 percent compared to July's total of 134.11 million, and analyzed it based on media, communication, community and participation indices.
BTS topped the rankings this time with a total score of 15.56 million, an increase of 108.58 percent compared to their July score of 7.46 million.
They have been in the limelight since releasing their new album "Love Yourself: Her" last month and generated media attention for establishing new K-pop records on Billboard and in South Korea.
According to the Hanteo Chart in South Korea, the album sold 759,263 copies in the first week alone, more than double than the first-week sales of their "Wings" album. To date, the album has sold about 950,000 copies.
The "DNA" music video has garnered 92 million views since September 18 and is expected to reach 100 million views in the coming days.
In addition, the "Love Yourself: Her" album debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200, the highest rank achieved by a Korean singer.
Following BTS in the brand reputation rankings for idol groups is new boy band Wanna One with 14.8 million and a new entry in the Top 100.
EXO placed third with 7.08 million, down by 31.14 percent compared to July's 10.28 million.
Girl group TWICE ranked fourth with 6.5 million, down by 24.75 percent from their July score of 8.63 million.
Previous No. 1 Red Velvet placed fifth with 5.35 million, falling 48.41 percent from 10.37 million.
