PM Lee talks about necessity of growing relationship with US

This is for the third time that Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong is visiting the US.

Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has arrived at the Blair House, Washington on Saturday as a part of his official working visit. During this visit, Lee is expected to visit American President Donald Trump and will also conduct talks with several top officials in the United States administration.

An agreement between Singapore Airlines and Boeing will be also signed by Lee during this visit.

This is for the third time that Lee Hsien Loong is making an official working visit to the US. Previously, he had visited the US and talked with then-Presidents George W Bush and Barrack Obama.

Privilege to stay in Blair House

The Blair House, also known as the President's Guest House is owned by the United States Government and it is majorly used to host visiting dignitaries and special guests of the President. Soon after reaching the Blair House, Lee took to Facebook and said that it is an honor to stay in the historical building. The Prime Minister also revealed that he will be calling on President Donald Trump on Monday.

Lee Hsien Soong said that building a strong relationship between the US and Singapore is necessary for the betterment of both the nations.

"Singapore and the US have a long history of cooperation. Our people do too, with many working, living, and thriving in each other's countries! We are close, so it is important to keep growing our relationship," said the Singapore Prime Minister, Straits Times reports.

Lee is the first South Asian leader who got the privilege to stay at the Blair House. Some of the other noted personalities who have stayed at Blair House in the past are Queen Elizabeth II, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and Margaret Thatcher.
