Two lanes in Singapore's Upper Serangoon Road were closed due to pipe repair works which were being conducted by Singapore's national water agency, PUB, on Monday, October 30. As per reports by the authority, service crew members were immediately sent to the site to begin repair works early.
PUB in a Facebook post at 11:38 am stated that authorities received a report on a pipe leak at Upper Serangoon Road at 2:00 am on Monday, October 30.
After the crew members reported at the site of the incident the leak was isolated swiftly at around 8:45 am. Authorities stated that repair works will not hamper water supply.
To make the progress of repair works smooth, all lanes at Upper Serangoon leading to Sengkang and Hougang were kept closed. Vehicles were asked to take different routes.
However in an update PUB stated that only two out of three lanes have been kept closed.
According to a previous tweet by SBS Transit, bus numbers, 100, 107, 133, 135, 147 and 153 were being diverted along Upper Serangoon Road towards Hougang and Sengkang. In a recent update, SBS transit notified that the diversion along Upper Serangoon Road has ended and bus services are back to normal.
Singapore Police Force alerted commuters via their tweet, mentioning the road closure at Upper Serangoon Road towards Sengkang, after the junction of Wolskel road, due to underground water pipe burst. In a recent update, Singapore Police Force tweeted that the left lane along Upper Serangoon Road has been opened and that the traffic now is passable.
There have been two pipe bursts in Singapore in the past few months. On September 30 and October 5, 2017, Bukit Batok faced two major incidents of water pipe leakage.
