Singapore's Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) seized a total of more than 2kg of 'Ice' and an assortment of other drugs in an operation on Tuesday evening, the authorities said on Wednesday. In a press release, CNB said that the entire haul of drugs is estimated to be worth more than S$216,000.
A 23-year-old male Singaporean was observed in the vicinity of Petir Road by the CNB officers while he was parking a car at a multi-storey carpark and thereafter departing from the carpark. The suspect was tailed to Jurong East, and was later arrested at his hideout in Jurong East.
Meanwhile, a few other officers raided the Petir Road hideout of another suspect, who was a 36-year-old male Singaporean. About 55g of 'Ice', 36g of cannabis, two 'Ecstasy' tablets and cash of more than S$8,800 was seized from the private apartment. Later, the officers led the suspect to his car and recovered about 78g of ketamine, 4g of 'Ice', 175 'Ecstasy' tablets and 64 Erimin-5 tablets.
The CNB said that the investigations into the drug activities of both suspects are still going on. Under the Misuse of Drugs Act, if a person is convicted of trafficking more than 250g of methamphetamine, he may be sentenced to death. The authorities say that 250g of methamphetamine is sufficient to feed the addiction of about 185 abusers for a week.
