The American superhero film "Thor: Ragnarok" continued its dominance in South Korea, topping the weekend box office for the second time in a row.
Starring Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum and Anthony Hopkins, "Thor: Ragnarok" sold 833,931 tickets from November 3 to 5 and earned US$6.4 million to top the weekend box office in South Korea for the second straight week. It was shown on 1,047 screens and had a market share of 38.31 percent for the period.
"Thor: Ragnarok" has now earned $26.48 million with total admissions of 3.64 million since it opened in Korea on October 25, according to the Korean Film Council (KOFIC). Except for one day, the film has stopped the daily box office since its release in Korea.
The movie opened in the US on November 3 and earned $121 million in its opening weekend.
In the weekend box office, the Korean comedy "The Bros," starring Ma Dong Seok, Lee Dong-hwi and Lee Ha-neui, placed second with 605,682 tickets sold and revenue of $4.47 million to bring its total to $5.78 million with 800,998 in total admissions since opening on November 2.
Ma Dong Seok's other film, "The Outlaws," which opened on October 3, grabbed third place with 266,581 in total admissions and earnings of $2 million. As of November 6, it has grossed $47.19 million with 6.4 million tickets sold.
"Heart Blackened," which stars Choi Min Sik, Park Shin Hye, Ryu Jun Yeol and Lee Honey, placed fourth with 238,808 in total admissions and revenue of $1.77 million to bring its total gross to $2.2 million and tickets sold to 301,650 since November 2.
Grabbing sixth to tenth places during the weekend are: "Let Me Eat Your Pancreas," "Jigsaw," "Monkey King: The Hero," "Once," "Geostorm" and "Method."
