A mysterious fossil has been found in India's northern region Uttarakhand, which looks like a prehistoric creature. No, it is neither a movie production prop nor a photoshopped image. Reports say that it might be a Tyrannosaurus but local police from Jaspur are not convinced to call it a dinosaur.
The Indian news organization ANI had posted the news on Twitter but they did not disclose where exactly the unidentified fossil has been found.
However, it is not the first time that a prehistoric-looking fossil has been found in India. In October 2017, Guntupalli Prasad from the University of Delhi, India, and a team of researchers have published a study where they stated that the first Jurassic ichthyosaur was found in the Kachchh area in Gujarat, India.
Although the research team did not find any solid clue to identify the fossil from Kachchh, they claimed that it was 5.5m long and most probably was connected to Ophthalmosauridae family.
"This is a remarkable discovery not only because it is the first Jurassic ichthyosaur record from India, but also it throws light on the evolution and diversity of ichthyosaurs in the Indo-Madagascan region of the former Gondwanaland and India's biological connectivity with other continents in the Jurassic," Guntupalli Prasad stated on their study.
