Korean boy band BTS achieved another success when their new single topped iTunes charts in more than 60 countries.
BTS released a remix version of the song "MIC Drop" featuring Desiigner that was produced by Steve Aoki on November 24.
Following its release, the song topped the iTunes Songs Chart in the US, the first K-pop group to achieve it.
It also became No. 1 in countries and territories such as Argentina, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Estonia, Finland, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Ireland, Iceland, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macao, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Slovenia, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, and Vietnam.
Aoki thanked BTS for trusting him in remixing the song, saying, "My first #1 on ITunes Overall. Thanks to the boys @BTS_twt for believing in me on the #micdropremix!! Shout out to @LifeOfDesiigner for amping the song up and the biggest thanks goes to all the fans that made this a numba one!!!!"
He earlier hinted that he and BTS were working on a project, telling Billboard that "I don't know how much I can say, but we're working on some fun stuff."
"I love these guys. These guys are the geniuses. They're so creative on every level -- on their dance, on their sound, on their style, their flow, creatively musically, creatively on the fashion tip. They're brand developers. They developed their own brand, and they're global. It's incredible working with artists like that," Aoki said of BTS.
The music video for "MIC Drop" has garnered 13.33 million views and 2 million likes since November 24.
"MIC Drop" came following BTS' debut performance at the American Music Awards (AMAs) and appearances on US talks shows including those of Jimmy Kimmel, James Corden and Ellen DeGeneres.
