More than a year after the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco shook the smartphone industry, Samsung Electronics Co Ltd has reportedly decided to give the upcoming Galaxy S9 device a bump in the battery. According to the latest report from a Chinese publication, Samsung is looking into using a 3,200 mAh battery for its next-generation smartphone.
Tencent Digital News on Monday, December 18 reported that the South Korean tech behemoth will begin the mass production of the Galaxy S9 smartphone in January 2018. With the previously leaked renders for the device showing a thicker build, speculations have surfaced that the company is supposedly using the extra space in the build for a bigger battery.

The Chinese news outlet has claimed that the source of information is in possession of a test unit. Additionally, the same source told them that the Galaxy S9 supports Quick Charge 3.0, which critics believe is long overdue. If this report holds true, the Galaxy S9's battery will be getting a substantial upgrade from the Galaxy S8, which has a 3,000mAh battery.
Back in August 2016, Samsung rolled out the Galaxy Note 7 with an impressive 3,500mAh lithium-ion battery embedded into its tiny 7.9mn body. Overheating caused the several models around the world to explode, forcing Samsung to issue a global recall for the device.

Meanwhile, the manufacturer has been reported to formally introduce the device to the public in February 2018, a month later than what was first reported by The Investor Korea back in September. Even so, this is still way earlier than previous Galaxy device launchings which usually fall in March or April.
Samsung Galaxy S9 is expected to be launched with the Galaxy S9 Plus at the 2018 Mobile World Congress on February 26 in Barcelona, Spain.
