An unidentified woman has been found murdered and chopped into pieces at the Indian city of Hyderabad. The body parts of the victim were retrieved from two gunny bags placed near the Botanical Garden of the city, the police said.
The woman's body had been chopped into pieces and stuffed into the bags before being disposed of in the area. One bag contained her severed hands and limbs, while the other held the torso.
Assistant Commissioner of Police N Shyam Prasad Rao told the Press Trust of India (PTI) that the woman is aged between 25 and 30 years. Her identity is yet to be found out.
According to Rao, locals alerted the police after they found blood-stained gunny bags lying on the read. After the bags were opened, the severed body parts were revealed.
A case of murder has been registered by the police. The body parts have been sent for forensic examination to ascertain the identity of the woman and possible cause of her death.
The police said that active investigation is being conducted into the matter. They are also trying to find through CCTV footages if any vehicle stopped in the area throughout the night and dumped the body.
This is not the first time that such a gruesome incident happened in India. Only one day back, the severed head of a man has been found near a religious place in India's southern state of Telangana.
In a similar case in Hong Kong, a woman was arrested in December 2017 for murdering her 12-year-old daughter and chopping up her body. She was apprehended after neighbors called the police. Apparently, she had dismembered her daughter's body in the bathroom and tried to push her body parts through the drainage pipe, leading to clogging and overflow of water and blood.
