The Philippines confirmed 2,378 new coronavirus or COVID-19 infections on Sunday, the smallest daily rise in almost four weeks, but the countrywide tally spiked to 189,601, which is still the highest in Southeast Asia.
In a bulletin, the Department of Health also reported 32 more fatalities, bringing the country's death toll to 2,998. The deadly virus outbreak has created a major stir around the world in recent times infecting more than 23.2 million people worldwide.
COVID-19 Crisis
The virus has also claimed the lives of over 804,000 people globally and is currently spreading like wildfire infecting people in more than 1760 nations. Scientists are currently working at a war-like speed to find a cure for the disease.
More than 100 vaccine candidates are currently under different stages of trials. Russia, however, has registered a vaccine that it claims to be the first vaccine for the disease and also claims that the vaccine is safe.
