Alibaba founder Jack Ma Yun is all set to make his big screen debut with a short kung fu film. Titled Gong Shou Dao, the short martial arts film also stars champion boxer Zou Shiming, actor Wu Jing, Thai actor Tony Jaa, Chinese superstar Jet Li, and retired Mongolian sumo champion Asashoryu Akinori.
The film—set to release in November—is intended to promoteTai Chi, in which Ma has specialised over the years. Ma-owned South China Morning Post revealed the news on Monday. "The movie Gong Shou Dao, or The Art of Attack and Defence, will be released on November 11, the date of an online shopping extravaganza known as Singles Day in China. But Alibaba said the two events were not linked," the report added.
Ma unveiled the first look poster of the film through his social handle. Along with the image, he wrote, "That night ... that dream." Being an avid follower of Tai Chi, Ma recently established a lifestyle company called Taiji Zen, offering tai chi courses online along with Jet Li. Meanwhile, Li wrote on his personal blog, "We all know that Jack is a Taiji Master himself, it will definitely be an exciting short film to watch."
Ma is the second richest billionaire in Asia and is known for his inspiring speeches. Recently, a video of Ma performing Michael Jackson's famous moves has made him the most popular corporate leader.
