Google has officially started rolling out the highly-anticipated public beta build of Android 7.1.2 Nougat for a handful of devices including Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus Player, Pixel C and Nexus 5X. Some lucky users who received the update through in the initial rollout have confirmed the same via Reddit.
It is ascertained that those who have enrolled themselves into Android Beta Program are receiving the update first as privileged members of the community. Meanwhile, the Nexus 6P users are expected to get the hefty 827.9MB Nougat update soon as the incremental build is being rolled out in a phased manner.
Curious Android fans may get a glimpse of the Android 7.1.2 Public Beta firmware and its interface through the official images posted by Google on the official developer portal for the Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus Player and Pixel C devices.
Despite being an incremental build, the size of the Android 7.1.2 update with build number NPG05E is quite large and hence it fuels speculation that it could be a major feature update.
Furthermore, the changelog description on the system-update wizard (see screenshot above) clearly specifies that the update brings new app shortcuts and image keyboard support, among a few other feature additions.
Meanwhile, those who are yet to enrol themselves into the Beta Program may do so using the official registration link here. Members of the Beta Program should start receiving the new update via OTA in the next few hours.
Alternatively, those who do not wish to enrol into the Beta Program may download the update manually and flash the same like any other firmware. The manual download links for the Android 7.1.2 Public Beta build are available here.
