A second fire occurred at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Baru a day after a deadly fire killed six patients at the hospital's intensive care unit.

Reports say this time the operation theatre in the emergency and trauma ward has been affected by the fire. Hospital staff and patients were seen rushing out of the trauma ward as smoke engulfed the operation theatre located on the first floor of the building.

Authorities asked the hospital staff, patients, and public to evacuate the area as a fire engine started its operation. According to reports, the fire is said to be a small one and the situation is now under control.

On Monday morning, a huge blaze broke out at the intensive care unit of Sultanah Aminah hospital, killing six patients. The firefighters managed to put out the blaze after a two-hour long operation.

Initial investigations showed that a faulty wiring led to a short circuit on the third floor of the hospital resulting into the accident.

There were rumours that a mobile phone plugged into a charger next to an oxygen tank exploded resulting into the fire. However, the hospital authorities have rubbished the rumour.
