Prospective iPhone SE buyers are in for some exciting news as Apple has just announced the availability of the handset in two new variants with double the storage capacity at the same entry-level price of $399 in the US. Consequently, the Cupertino Company has discontinued production and sales of 16GB and 64GB variants of iPhone SE while replacing them with new 32GB and 128GB models.
The announcement regarding the release of two new models for the iPhone SE came at the launch event of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus RED Special Edition. The two new iPhone SE models will go on sale starting 24 March via apple.com as well as Apple Stores.
To be precise, the new 32GB will be retailing at $399 while the 128GB model will be priced at $499, which is a tad pricier than 64GB ($449) model. These new price cuts have been effective, following the launch of new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus RED Special variants.
As far as specifications are concerned, the iPhone SE features a 4in Retina display running at a native resolution of 1136x640 pixels at 326ppi. It is powered by the new A9 processor chipset that's found in iPhone 6s and the new 9.7in iPad model.
Other noteworthy features of the new iPhone SE include NFC support for Apple Pay, an integrated M9 motion coprocessor, 12-megapixel rear camera and 1.2MP front-facing camera.
Prospective owners of new iPhone SE or iPhone 7/7Plus RED Special Edition will be eligible for free Personal Setup service either in-store or online, to help them customise their iPhone by settings up email, showing then new apps from the App Store and more.
Novice users can also learn the basics of using a new iPhone by registering for a free workshop at any Apple Store. It is now confirmed that both the Special Edition models of iPhone 7/7 Plus will be available worldwide starting 24 March.
However, the arrival of shipments might be delayed until the end of March in the US and 40 other countries as listed here:
- Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, the UK and United Arab Emirates.
- Brazil, Chile, Colombia, India, Turkey and a few other countries will follow in April.
