Everyone's always heard about weird things that have come crashing through someone's roof. Legends tell stories of creatures and what-not's falling from the sky. There were about 600 reports of strange things falling from the sky during the last century and many of them remain unexplained. Here are a few of them, which are by far the most mind-boggling.
Puppies
Imagine cute bundles of joy falling from the sky! Twice in the USA, there have been recorded incidents of puppies falling in 2012. In one case, a young man was walking in his family backyard in Los Banos, California in May, when he saw an injured puppy. Claw marks on the pup suggested that a bird of prey had been carrying it, but for some reason the bird had lost its grip. The puppy was later named TJ Heavenly.
A few months later in Arizona, an owl was seen snatching a puppy and carrying it off. At some point, the owl dropped the pup in an elderly neighbor's backyard. In both cases, the puppies escaped becoming birdy num-nums to become family pets instead.
Blood
Divine intervention happened in 2008 in the form of red rain that was certified by a local bacteriologist to be blood. It rained on a small community of La Sierra. The priest of the Hamlet says it's a sign from God that people will have to change their sinful ways.
Sharks
Assuming sharks can fly, in 2012, a small leopard shark landed on the San Juan Hills Golf Club in Southern California. The golf staff acted quickly, putting the shark in a golf cart and dumping it into a bucket of salty water, finally taking it to the ocean. Once in the water, the shark shook off the shock and swam away. This would probably make a great story at tea time at that shark's home. The shark had puncture marks on its body, indicating that it was probably snatched up by some bird from the ocean.
Cow
A man driving in France met with a bizarre accident when a cow fell on his car's bonnet. The car was badly damaged and halted abruptly.
The animal had been walking along a cliff high above the road and lost its balance, The Local reported. "We were more scared than hurt," the unhurt driver told France Bleu radio, adding that he was very distressed by the death of the animal.
Colourful Snow
Russian emergency workers have flown to a Siberian region where smelly, orange, yellow and green snow fell from the sky. The Emergency Situations Ministry said officials in the Omsk region, about 1,400 miles east of Moscow, had warned local residents not to use the snow for drinking or other purposes, and to keep domestic animals from it.
The ministry said the snow, which fell on Wednesday afternoon, was yellow, green and orange and had an oily texture and unpleasant smell.
Apples
An avalanche of more than 100 apples rained down over a main road in Keresley. The street was left littered with apples after they pelted car windscreens and bonnets just after rush-hour.
The bizarre downpour may have been caused by a current of air that lifted the fruit from a garden or orchard. One driver said: "The apples fell out of the sky as if out of nowhere. They were small and green and hit the bonnet hard."
Worms
In April 2015, worms fell out of the sky and landed in various parts of southern Norway. Karstein Erstad found some of the worms on snow while skiing near Bergen. The worms were alive too. Worm rain has been reported in Scotland in 2011 and Sweden in the 1920s. Charles Fort chronicles earlier examples of worm rain, such as the black grubs that fell during a snowstorm in Devonshire, England, in 1857. Crazy wind may once again be the culprit.
