Manveer Gurjar, who entered the Bigg Boss house as a commoner (Indiawalle as the makers had termed them), has finally won the tenth season of the popular Indian reality TV show, Bigg Boss. The 'desi' lad from Haryana won the hearts of millions of Indians with his honesty, dedication and loyalty towards his friends. He is the first non-celebrity to win the reality show.
There were speculations that a tough fight was going on between Manveer Gurjar and Bani Judge, since the two were getting the highest number of votes. But, finally on Sunday in a star-studded, grand finale, Salman Khan announced Manveer Gurjar as the winner of the show. Bani Judge was the runner-up with Lopamudra Raut coming third and Manu finishing fourth.
Moments after the winner was announced, Manveer's father took the audience by surprise and announced that half of the prize money won by Manveer would be donated to Salman Khan's charity organization, Being Human.
After winning the show, Manveer told CNN News 18: "When I walked inside the BiggBoss house, my only aim was to mend my broken relationships and show the world who the real Manveer is. Every day in Bigg Boss, I have strived to achieve this goal. Today, as I hold the Bigg Boss trophy, I cannot help but recollect every single day that I have spent inside the house – every task, every circumstance."
"I want to thank my family, friends and all the viewers of Bigg Boss for their unconditional love and support; it's their belief in me that has brought me to this juncture. I would like to especially mention the relationships that I have fostered inside the Bigg Boss house – they have been instrumental in shaping my personality in many ways," Manveer added.
The other evicted contestants were seen congratulating Manveer for his epic win. Manu Punjabi expressed his love for the winner and said he was happy to see that his best friend has won the show. Bani J was disappointed but she was quite gracious in her loss. While speaking to the media, she said that "it was difficult and harrowing and it is easy to lose your motivation in a show like Bigg boss".
In an interview with the Indian Express, Lopamudra Raut said that she was a little upset about finishing third and not winning the show. "I am slightly disappointed thinking that I could have won. But I feel like a winner as I was in the final three," Lopa said.
"Manveer is a lovely human being. His win is mine. I am happy for him. He is a well-deserved winner," Lopa added.
