BTS wins Top Social Artist award, makes history at 2017 BBMAs

The boy band is first K-pop group to be nominated at the BBMAs.

K-pop boy band BTS made history by winning the Top Social Artist award at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs).

Nominees in the category got a total of more than 300 million votes, said presenter Lindsey Stirling at the awards show held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on May 21.

BTS members were ecstatic as Stirling and Paul Logan announced that they won the award.

The boy band is first K-pop group to be nominated at the BBMAs. Their win was made possible by their millions of fans who supported and voted for them.

BTS thanked their fans as they accepted the award on stage.

"We cannot believe we're standing here on this stage at the Billboard Music Awards. It is so great to see all the artists we admire and we are honored to be in this category. Such great audience right in front of us," BTS leader Rap Monster said.

He added, "Most importantly, this award belongs to every people around the world that shine, the love and light on us by the millions. Please ARMY, remember what we say, love myself, love yourself."

By winning the award, BTS defeated Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Shawn Mendes and Ariana Grande.

BTS had a great time as they walked the red carpet and met other singers before they went inside the arena.
