The upcoming tvN drama "Circle" is all set to air this week and Lee Gi Kwang revealed about the difficulties while acting, despite the fact that he has been highly praised by the co-stars of the drama.
The thriller drama is divided into two parts, "Part 1: Beta Project" and "Part 2: An Amazing New World," and it takes place in 2017 and 2037, respectively. The drama takes place in two timelines but the characters due not move to the present to future or vice-versa, rather two similar stories from two different eras are being told in one episode.
In the drama, Lee Gi Kwang appears in the 2037 storyline where he plays the role of Lee Ho Su who is a government employee and lives in "Smart Earth."
Lee Ho Su is a character which requires bipolar emotional expression and he admits that it was pretty difficult saying, "I thought it was very complex, and I had a lot of self-doubt as to whether or not I could do a good job."
He added, "I'm trying to shake away my nervousness by relying on Kim Kang Woo and the director's advice to take it easy."
However, the director of the drama and his co-stars praised his acting. Kim Kang Woo revealed, "Lee Ho Su is a very difficult character to play since his emotions are suppressed, but [Lee Gi Kwang] is doing a great job. He's always working hard."
Director Min Jin Gi too agreed to it by saying, "Lee Ho Su is pretty much a humanoid character devoid of emotion, and he represents the reality of 'Smart Earth.' It is a challenge to play the role of a nonexistent person, but Lee Gi Kwang is doing an excellent job of portraying the character's nuances."
He also added, "It will be interesting to discover a potential dark side to our society's future through Lee Ho Su," Soompi reported.
The first episode of "Circle" is scheduled to air on May 22 at 11 p.m. KST.
