Overview
Club America were up against European giants Real Madrid in their semi-final match on 15 December and were outplayed 2-0 after goals from Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo on either side of the break.
The Concacaf Champions League winners did not go down without a fight though as they tested Zinedine Zidane's side with quality chances, which they were not able to convert. Real custodian Keylor Navas was in spectacular form in the first half, when the Mexican side were looking threatening.
Club America, who started their campaign on a high after beating Japanese side Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in their opener, will now have to battle for the third-place against Colombian club Atletico Nacional.

The winners of 2016 Copa Libertadores, who are representing South America, stumbled in their first game of the ongoing tournament against J.League winners Kashima Antlers.
Notably, the Colombian club won hearts when they offered the Copa Sudamericana title to Chapecoense, whose players, except three, were killed in a plane crash in November while the Brazilian team was travelling to play the final of the South American club tournament.
Nacional players were vocal about making a mark in the tournament after the tragic accident but Antlers, who will be facing Real in the final, proved too good for them in the last-four stages.
While Nacional will want to finish on the podium in their maiden Club World Cup appearance, Club America, will be looking for their best-ever finish in the tournament in their third appearance.
