Third seed David Goffin takes on sixth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the Men's singles title match of Rotterdam Open in The Netherlands on Sunday.
The 25-year-old Belgian made sure he entered the top-10 in the ATP Rankings for the first time in his career after decimating unseeded Pierre-Hugues Herbert 6-1, 6-3 in his semi-final clash on Saturday while Tsonga clinched his 400th career win by stunning fifth seed Tomas Berdych 6-3, 6-4 in his last-four match.
Both the players have been in good form in the ongoing season with Tsonga reaching at least the quarter-final stages of all the tournaments he has played so far and Goffin making the finals of Sofia and then in Rotterdam after his last-eight exit at Australian Open.
Tsonga successfully got past the quarter-final hurdle, which he has struggled to get past in the season, by surviving a hard-fought match against top seed Marin Cilic. Also, the Frenchman has not dropped yet and is looking good to win his maiden title in Rotterdam.
On the other hand, Goffin finally put one across in-form Grigor Dimitrov after losing to the Bulgarian in the final of Sofia earlier this month and in the quarter-final in Melbourne. After taking the first set 6-4 in his quarter-final clash, the Belgian was pegged back 1-6 in the second but he was composed enough to clinch the decider 6-3. Goffin then needed just an hour and 14 minutes to decimate Herbert on Saturday.
While both the finalists will not want to let go of an opportunity to win a first title in 2017, Tsonga with his experience of playing the big matches and a 3-2 head-to-head advantage starts as favourite.
