Looks like EXO's Kai is all set to create history. Kai's first full-fledged K-drama 'Andante,' a new classroom drama produced by KBS, has received a great response even before the release. The overseas rights of the drama have already been sold to all the Asian countries except China.
Kail will be playing a high schooler, Lee Si Kyung, whose life changes after he visits his hometown. The technical side of Andante included director Park Ki Ho of "Ad Genius Lee Tae Baek" and writers Park Sun Ja and Kwon Ki Kyung of the "Sharp" series. The drama will have 16 episodes and will be aired during the latter half of 2017. It is currently in its post-production stage.
Meanwhile, if reports are true, he will play the lead role in an upcoming Japanese drama "Spring Has Come" (working title). This is the first time a non-Japanese actor will be playing the lead. The drama is based on a Japanese novel of the same name and Kai is likely to appear as a Korean cameraman. Written by Kuniko Mukōda and produced by channel WOWOW, the plot revolves around family life in a modern society. Kai has previously starred in web-drama 'EXO Next Door' and 'Choco Bank'.
On singing front, EXO is currently participating in EXO PLANET #3 -The EXO'rdium concerts in the east and west coasts of North American. This Chinese-South Korean boy band consists of members Xiumin, Suho, Lay, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, D.O., Kai, and Sehun. Lay has already opted out of the tour due to prior commitments. The boy band recently celebrated their gift anniversary with fans on social media.
In 2016, the band sold 2.13 million albums, with "EX'ACT" and "Lotto" together selling 1.17 million copies and "For Life" bringing in another 425,000 copies. They have been named as the most influential celebrity by Forbes Korea for the year 2014 and 2015.
