One of the biggest reasons behind the success of KBS2 drama 'Fight My Way' was the fantastic chemistry between leads Park Seo-joon and Kim Ji-won. The drama concluded on July 11 but interest in the drama and the lead pair's chemistry hasn't waned.
Now Kim Ji-won has revealed how Park Seo-joon actually made her heart flutter while they were filming the drama. As noted by website Soompi, in a recent interview, Kim Ji-won said, "The drama shows the process of childhood friends turning into lovers, friendship turning into love. I don't have a lot of long-term male friends, so it made my heart flutter for real. But I don't think our characters Choi Ae-ra and Go Dong-man were ever really just friends, even at the beginning. True friends were Choi Ae-ra and Kim Joo-man."
'Fight My Way,' which finished with an impressive 13.8 percent rating in South Korea, as per AGB Nielsen, was Kim Ji-won's first leading role. It was a story of young adults who struggle to survive in a harsh society while keeping their dreams alive. Park Seo-joon and Kim Ji-won's characters were based on Japanese mixed martial artist Yoshihiro Akiyama, also known as Choo Sung-hoon and his wife, Japanese model Shiho Yano.
As for her chemistry with Park Seo-joon in the drama, Kim Ji-won said, "Chemistry is key, and I think the fact that we got closer as time went on was shown naturally. I learned a lot from Park Seo-joon. He has a lot of ideas, and he makes it fun on set. So he made my heart flutter, and I got a lot of energy that way."
Kim Ji-won then described the specific moment Park Seo-joon made her heart beat faster, saying, "The time he made my heart flutter the most was when he pulled me in, during the bar scene. I felt a sense of power. It looked great on set, too."
The actress had recently said if she had a martial artist as a boyfriend, she'd also support his aspirations like Choi Ae-ra does for Go Dong-man.
The chief producer of 'Fight My Way' had revealed earlier, "Park Seo Joon and Kim Ji Won are actually very close in real life, too. They are taking care of each other and cheering each other on. They are both committed to their characters. They have good chemistry in real life, and they're having a lot of fun while filming."
Kim Ji-won will next be seen in the 2018 crime and comedy genre movie 'Detective K: 3,' directed by Kim Suk-yoon, while Park Seo-joon stars opposite Kang Ha-neul in buddy-cop genre action, comedy movie 'Midnight Runners,' which will release in South Korea on August 9, this year.
