Samsung has officially confirmed its public release of Nougat update will start with Android 7.1.1 across all Galaxy devices, in response to a recent query from a member of the Galaxy Beta Program. Android 7.1.1 will bring a bunch of feature enhancements and improvements over the previous release including a new set of emoji, support for sending GIFs via keyboard in select apps and adding app shortcuts on home screen.
Apart from Google's Pixel phones powered by Android 7.1 and some select Nexus devices running the Android 7.0 Nougat update, there are very few OEMs who have begun the rollout of official Nougat update on their devices, as most of them are still undergoing beta-testing ahead of the public release.
Nevertheless, the Android 7.1.1 update brings a few noteworthy tweaks such as long pressing the app icon to perform launch actions on apps like Twitter and Google Maps.
Although Samsung has not divulged any official release date details regarding the public release of its Nougat update for S7 and S7 Edge, it is widely speculated to begin rolling out early next year.
