Samsung has lived up to its fan expectations by introducing the highly-rumoured Facial Recognition technology on the recently announced flagship phones, the Galaxy S8 and S8+. It is now evident through a YouTube video that the facial recognition feature is not as secure as it's deemed to be.

Although the addition of facial unlocking aka facial recognition feature did eliminate the need for accommodating the fingerprint sensor on the rear of the device, it's quite shocking to note that the unlocking mechanism on the S8 and S8+ works if you simply wave a photograph at the device's screen.

For the illustration purpose, the video makes use of the Galaxy S8 owner's photo captured on another device and the same is used to unlock the S8. It is still unclear if the captured photo was taken at the same distance and angle that a phone would scan for when it is being unlocked.

As the S8 flagship phones are still three weeks away from their official release on 21 April, we could just hope that the company could be currently evaluating the phone and the facial recognition software for bugs and issues as part of the demo, ahead of the final public release when these bugs will be patched up.

If you are still sceptical, just check out the YouTube video (below) showcasing the negative traits of facial recognition feature:
