Game of Thrones season 7 came to an end yesterday leaving its fans excited and heartbroken at the same time. This season is, no doubt, one of the nest seasons in the entire series. It had some shocking revelations, tragic deaths and bloody battles, which has left the audience in awe. Let us rewind and go through top eight takeaways from this season.
Be aware of Arya Stark
Arya Stark, the younger of the Stark daughters, has become a skilled warrior after her rigorous training with Jaqen H'ghar- a sly Lorathi criminal. She has resumed her quest to avenge her family and has no mercy, which is very well portrayed in the first episode itself when she kills the Freys, in cold blood. However, she is not a mindless murdered and doesn't kill anyone who is not on her hit list. Probably this is why she spared Walder's wife Kitty and other women in the house.
Sansa no longer a little girl
The other Stark sister, Sansa, also played a key role in this season. Sansa has always come across a naive little girl who does not understand the cruel world, but in this season she is no longer that. After enduring hard times she has become cynical and cold-hearted. Not only she saw through Lord Petyr Baelish's nasty plan to set her up against her own sister, she sentenced him to death and didn't even bat an eyelid when he begged for mercy. "I am a slow learner, but I learn," said the once innocent Sansa as Arya slits Baelish's throat.
John Snow is Aegon Targaryen
This season also made John Snow's parentage clear. Yes, he is a Targaryen – the legitimate son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, named Aegon Targaryen, and this makes him the rightful heir to the iron throne. It also means Daenerys Targaryen his aunt making their relation incestuous, but then again the Targaryens are known for such relations. Snow's real lineage may be also the reason that Daenerys dragon Drogon allowed him to pat itself.
Theon Greyjoy is back
Most of us are disgusted with Theon Greyjoy for his cowardice. But the last episode of the season shows that he is not a chicken and actually cares for his sister Yara. The character has faced enough torture when he was Ramsay Bolton's prisoner and it broke his spirit but he has not become useless. He convinced others to go and save Yara after a bloody fight with one of them. After all, he is a Greyjoy and a Stark - a fighter.
Dragons always have your back
Another major take away from the season is: DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE DRAGONS! In the episode, "The Spoils of War" the dragons played a huge role. It is proved that the dragons Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion have become extremely powerful and they will protect their mother Daenerys at any cost. Probably this why Drogon, who was grievously wounded by Bronn did not hesitate to roast Jaime Lannister when he tried to kill Daenerys. Since that episode, Jaime has learnt his lesson: Do not mess with the dragons.
Olenna won out hearts
Another character, who become one of the most loved in this season is Olenna Tyrell. The old Lady Olenna has always been vocal about her opinions and never bent down in front of anyone's whims and fancies. Even before dyingOlenna gave a shocking news to Jaime Lannister – that she killed his and Cersei's brute son Joffrey Baratheon. She knew this information will distance the Lannister siblings – the most apt revenge for killing her grandchildren Margaery Tyrell and Loras Tyrell.
Night King is more powerful than ever
Coming back to John Snow and Daenerys Targaryen, the duo will have a tough time fighting the Night King. In the episode "Beyond the Wall", the antagonist is seen killing one of Daenerys's dragon Viserion and resurrecting it to be a part of his army of the dead. Zombie Viserion looks invincible with it tattered wings and blue eyes. The dragon now spits blue fire, which is so powerful that it destroyed The Wall in no time!
Cersei has literally gone mad
Last but not the least, Cersei Lannister has clearly lost her mind and she has reached new heights of evilness. No amount of threat bothers the current rule of seven kingdoms and she can go to any extent to establish her legacy, even if it requires to kill her own brother-cum-lover Jamie. She has become a traitor and a tyrant and even Jamie is fed up with her! However, she is one hell of a sly woman and John and Dany should be aware of her strength.
Fans have to wait for two years before they get to know the conclusion of the American fantasy drama as it has been reported that the Season 8 might not get aired before 2019. According to a Hollywood reporter, the delay is because the shoot locations need to be finalised. The network also just announced a new post-season series, The Game Revealed, that is clearly intended to encourage anyone who subscribed to HBO purely for Game of Thrones to stick around through the long hiatus.
Rumour has it that there may be only 6 episode in the upcoming season.
let's hope that this long wait will be worth it.
