Have you ever been fascinated by the way the characters of Game of Thrones series drink their wine? Or how many times have you used the Tyrion Lannister's phrase, "That's what I do: I drink and I know things"? Be it the Lannisters or the Targaryens, everyone in the popular American fantasy drama drink like a fish and that too while plotting the season's most shocking murder in a very calm way.
Probably the craze for wine among the audiences' favourite characters prompted HBO to partner with Vintage Wine Estate and launch wines inspired by the television series. Yes, you heard that right: Game of Thrones wines will hit the shelves next year.
It is reported that the wine collection, which is likely to feature chardonnay, red blend and reserve-style cabernet sauvignon, will be launched in Marched 2017. "Given the prominent role of wine on Game of Thrones and our previous success in the beverage category, an officially licensed wine for the show feels like a natural extension for our fans," said HBO director of licensing and retail, Jeff Peters, according to Entertainment Weekly.
"Game of Thrones wines most definitely will add to the fan experience as the battle for the Iron Throne heats up heading into the final seasons," he added.
Game of Thrones, which is an adaptation of George R. R. Martin's novel A Song of Ice and Fire, premiered on HBO in the United States on April 17, 2011. Other than having an international fan base the show has inspired several merchandises. Especially the character Tyrion Lannister is extremely popular and has been called one of the author's finest creations by The New York Times.
However, it is the time for the fans to find out how true was the drunk dwarf's popular saying: "Everything's better with some wine in the belly."
