Girls' Generation's Seohyun is known to live her life as a righteous person. She has also been completely against smoking from a very early age. To make her own father quit smoking however, she had to take a very extreme step.
As noted by website Koreaboo, in a recent episode of JTBC's 'Knowing Bros,' the South Korean singer and actress revealed she hates cigarettes and can go to any lengths to stop her loved ones from smoking tobacco. She also revealed what she did to make her father give up smoking forever.
Replying to cast member Kang Ho-dong's question, whether she had ever considering smoking out of pure curiosity, Seohyun said, "I have hated the smell of cigarettes ever since I was young. My dad smoked when I was younger and I hated it so much I ate his cigarettes. I put them all in my mouth and my dad quit after that he never smoked another cigarette. That's how much I hate smoking."
This is a pretty extreme step taken by the singer one that no doubt horrified her father. His father did quit smoking altogether, knowing that his daughter loved him so much to put herself in harm's way; to teach her father a lesson on life he'll never forget.
South Korean government aims to make its country one of the most difficult places in the world for smoking by imposing extensive bans and restrictions on smoking activities. Smoking is not allowed in public places in the country, since 2013. The government even offers financial incentives and medical help for those that want to quit smoking. Even tobacco packets are forced to carry warning photos of rotten teeth and black lungs.
In a previous episode of 'Knowing Bros' that aired on February 18 this year, Seohyun had also shocked everyone in the studio, Koreaboo had noted. One of the hosts of the show, Seo Jang-hoon had asked whether she was single. Heechul confidently stated that he knew for sure she hadn't dated anybody. Seohyun of course, replied she had dated somebody.
Everyone was even more surprised to learn that her previous boyfriend had retired from the entertainment industry. She had refused to discuss any further details about her past relationship then.
