The Goblin team was planning a rewarding vacation to Phuket to celebrate the success of the record-breaking drama. However, now it looks like the plan will fall through as the actors are busy with their respective schedules and will not be able to accommodate the schedule.
According to Soompi, the agencies of Gong Yoo, Kim Go Eun, Lee Dong Wook, and Yoo In Na have confirmed their unavailability for the vacation. The report also stated that the actors tried their best to squeeze the dates but due to prior commitments they had to let it go.
However, Hwa & Dam Pictures, the production company, were surprised with the news as they are yet to get any official updates from the actors. "The plane tickets were bought and other reservations all finished already. We didn't receive any word from the actors [about them not being able to come]," a source from the production house told Soompi. Previously, singer-actor Yook Sung-jae confirmed his absence due to the shoot of his next drama "Law of the Jungle."
Also known as Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, the series narrated the story of a Joseon warrior Kim Shin and his curse for an eternal life. To break the 900-year old quest, he needs the help of a human bride Ji Eun Tak. The supernatural bromance, perfectly timed romance and the mysterious past definitely made the fans go frenzy. Its final episode recorded an epic nationwide audience share making it the highest rated drama in Korean cable television history, beating Reply 1988.
The romantic comedy officially ended its 16-episode run on Jan. 21. "According to Nielsen Korea, the "Goblin" finale recorded a viewership rating of 20.5 percent, setting a new record and earning the number one spot as the most watched cable television drama, a title previously held by "Reply 1988" with 18.8 percent," Soompi reported. A special episode featuring bloopers, interviews and more with the cast members will be aired Friday and Saturday.
