The hit tvN series 'Goblin' ended after setting records but for the writer of the series, Kim Eun Sook, many challenges lay ahead. Goblin has been one the most popular cable TV dramas and broke the TV popularity record of Reply 1988, which previously held the highest cable drama viewership record. No wonder, the fans will be eagerly waiting for the next project of the 'Goblin' writer who also gave other hit shows like Descendants of the Sun and Heirs.
When Kim Eun Sook was asked about her future projects, she said: "To start, I am going to have a 3-month vacation, resting period. After resting, I will start to work towards my next project and will be aiming to complete it by the first half of next year."
Kim Eun Sook, after the immense success of Descendants of the Sun last year and a tremendous hit show Goblin, seems to be ready to be back to work and create something different. In a recent interview, Kim Eun Sook stated: "I've always had an interest in historic dramas and through Goblin – I kind of feel that I have experimented enough to actually do a full historic drama as my next project."
Well, it's obvious that Kim Eun Sook will be back soon considering the huge record-breaking success Goblin had. The fantasy drama ended with highest ratings ever -20.5% across South Korea according to Nielson. According to Koreaboo, "During the final episodes airing, a 15-second advertisement is said to have cost 13.8 million won (11,800 USD)."
The Goblin creator further stated: "Beyond financial expectations – we have to place an importance towards happiness. Happiness with the viewers, production staff and actors. Everyone has to work in a happy, positive environment and through this atmosphere – one can create a meaningful work."
In other news, the cast and crew will also enjoy a much needed vacation trip to Thailand in February for all their dedication and hard work to make the drama worth a watch. While the fans will be treated with two more special episodes in February 3rd and 4th this will include behind-the-scenes and interviews with the cast.
