Actor Gong Yoo will be seen in the CNN spotlight after the tremendous success of tvN drama Goblin. Recently, they released a short preview of their interview which is all set to go on air at CNN's "Talk Asia" on May 25.
The 37-year-old star came to fame with his powerful acting while debuting with Coffee Prince- a decade ago - since then he never turned back. He starred in a number of TV dramas and movies Big, Finding Mr. Destiny, One Fine Day, and Silenced. He was also undoubtedly well recognized for the hit zombie thriller movie Train to Busan. However, his recent hit drama, Goblin made him a global star.
In the said preview, the actor was asked why he thinks that the drama was so successful. Gong Yoo responded saying that he doesn't have any clue why.
According to Soompi, he went on to explain, "It was a project that I was really worried about. I certainly never thought Asia and the world would love it so much."
He continued, "When I think about why this drama was so beloved, at least in Korea, is because it's a story that goes beyond human to human relationship and love."
The 37-year old actor further explained, "There is this special god-like figure, who has the ability to do a lot more than humans, interacting with humans who don't have as much compared to him," and "I think the public thought it was fresh."
He even compared it "Twilight," saying that the underlying theme is very similar.
CNN's interview with the Goblin actor is to be a part of their series, Talk Asia. The said talk show mainly focuses on important personalities related to arts, sports, politics, and business and he was definitely chosen for the immense popularity of Goblin: The Lonely and Great God where he played the role of Goblin. The drama ended with pretty high ratings and can be considered as one of the best K-dramas in the recent times.
